Halloween Hangover

I ate so much sugar yesterday, I swear I have a sugar hangover! I was a jittery and sluggish mess at tennis last night - what a weird feeling. I guess that I actually allowed myself to indulge this year, rather than in the past 2-3 years when I was "dieting." I even made some homemade haystacks (see recipe below) and brought them to work so I wouldn't eat all of them. But I failed to move them off my desk.

When I was a child, and even a teenager, I loved Halloween!! In the small town where I grew up, everyone dressed up and went trick-or-treating. We would pick the houses with really good treats and avoid some others. One of our neighbors used to give carmeled apples and change, like dimes and nickles...now that I think about it, that was very strange. And one lady always made popcorn balls - yummy! Now I just like to see all of the little kids, even though most of them are complete strangers.

I was at tennis last night so I didn't get to greet the trick-or-treaters at our door. Jarrett could tell that I didn't want to dissapoint the kids in our neighborhood so he surprised me and went home to hand out candy - what a sweetie! I think he knows more about the people in our neighborhood than I do. He even scouts out the neighbor to see if she has shackers! And I swear that his old friend Chuck across the street just thinks I come over to Jarrett's to mow the lawn because he never sees me otherwise.

See - I knew this blog was going to be random. Bear with me! I better to get back to work now.

Recipe for Haystacks
1/2 pkg. of Chocolate Almond Bark
1 can of La Choy Chow Mein Noodles
1 small can of peanuts (or cashews)

Melt the almond bark according to instruction on the package (I use the microwave). Add the noodles and nuts. Mix well. Spoon onto wax paper or aluminum foil. Let cool. Yields about 30 clusters. Enjoy!
